More time at the easel

Metropolitan Port by Joseph Stella
Joseph Stella, Metropolitan Port, ca. 1935–37. Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Keeping my website up to date is becoming part of the studio routine. With the artists.digital mobile app, I can upload artwork straight from my phone while the painting is still in front of me. There’s no need to set aside a separate session at the computer to transfer photographs and add the work.

Voice dictation is especially useful for capturing the thoughts behind a painting. I can speak a description or a few journal notes while the ideas are fresh, then review and edit the text. It feels more natural than starting with a blank page, and saves time typing.

These small changes are helping me keep the website current without letting the admin pile up. A photograph, a few spoken notes and a quick check can fit into a break in the day, leaving more time for the part I enjoy most: painting.
